In June, some of us from ABK Studio went over to the WPCA to teach a 4 day weaving camp.  It turned out to be a lot of fun. Saturday found me at Gaenslen school and another Wisconsin Handweavers meeting.  The speaker this month was Rita Hagenbruch with the topic "Overshot Odyssey".  If you are conversant in overshot you would have found the session a little flat BUT if you have not yet attempted an overshot pattern, out of trepidation, the session might have lit a fire under you.  Over all it was a good 101 course and

The holidays are over and it's time to break my silence.  Hello weaving world!  What did YOU make over the holidays (woven or other)?   I have not done too much weaving over the past month.  I finished a rug (that i forgot to take a picture of) and currently have a runner on the loom as a wedding gift for a dear friend.  Other then that I did a LOT of sewing, some quilting and some knitting.

Emily Nie of the Madison Weavers Guild did WHI and her Guild proud at the Wisconsin State Fair.  Emily managed to take home two 1st place, one 2nd place, one 3rd place, one 4th place and the coveted Best In Show ribbon.  Emily came to WHI after winning a membership at last years State Fair.  She has been weaving for 20 years and used to teach at Beloit college. So Susan Buss (instructor at the ABK Weaving Center) had this idea of entering a cart in the Riverwest Art Cart Race with the goal of promoting the weaving center and weaving in general.  I'm pretty much game for anything so I said "let's do it".  Susan's dad was kind enough to make us a cart (thank you Dad) even attaching some roll bars for our safety.         In spite of an unpromising start to the day (a rush to the dr.'s office with my 18 month old) the Milwaukee Art Museum event turned out wonderfully.  We dropped off the children at my in-laws by 11 o'clock and made it back to the city by 12:30.  In and out of the studio within an hour, we had the van packed front to back with looms and weaving equipment. Back in July ABK studio decided to "represent" at Milwaukee's Gallery Night.  I took one of the studio table looms (hereafter designated the marketing or traveling loom) to the Third Ward and set up by the fountain off  Broadway.  It was a lovely evening and I was able to weave from 6 to 8ish, when it started to become hard on the eyes.  Besides being nervous and not having any signs out, I
